I am a figurative painter with a focus on adult-child relationships and gender normativity. Issues of the maternal, home, family, violence against women and childhood trauma are central to my research. The brutality perpetrated, the feeling of powerlessness and the resulting psychological effects have shaped the substance of my artwork and drive my desire to paint. In 2015 I founded Creative Push in response to the current climate of judgment towards birth. Creative Push is a platform that presents a collection of recorded birth stories and visual artworks on the topic of birth. Audio birth stories and artworks can be viewed in a virtual exhibition on the Creative Push website: http://creativepush.org. The recordings and artwork that make up the collection are presented through a digital archive, art exhibitions, community conversations and a podcast. Creative Push is an ongoing project, continually seeking storytellers and artists.
