CHIF: Interdisciplinary High-Impact Place Studies Project : Patrick Robert Parker Sydnor Historic Site Mecklenburg County VA (ASUF 30005923) Carnegie Humanities Investment Fund (CHIF) - Carnegie Funds The Carnegie Humanities Investment Fund (CHIF) comprises $500,000 provided by the Carnegie Foundation to President Crow for academic leadership along with $500,000 matched by the presidents office for a two-year project that serves to seed innovative collaborative humanities research projects. CHIF funding is provided through commitments between $20,000 and $100,000. CHIF supports efforts within humanities disciplines and projects that bridge the humanities and other disciplines. CHIF funds infrastructure, not the research itself, providing ground-level support that allows investigators to apply for and carry out the large research projects that they envision. Interdisciplinary High-Impact Place Studies Project : Patrick Robert Parker Sydnor Historic Site Mecklenburg County, VA The ASU faculty team requests a Carnegie Humanities Investment Fund (CHIF) capacity building grant for a 2-year periodto advance interpretive, public-oriented, high impact humanities programming for the high stakes historic preservation and rehabilitation of the Patrick Robert Parker Sydnor historic log cabin located in Mecklenburg County, VA (Southside). Interactive website and promotional video production, Internet crowdsourcing (for valuable insight, innovation, and stronger bonds with stakeholders and potential investors), oral history narrative gathering and showcasing, and targeted op-ed pieces will deliver strong marketing leverage that can significantly enable the securing of a major grant for the historic preservation and rehabilitation project. The mission of the overall project in Southside Virginia is to bring people of different races and backgrounds together as stakeholders building vibrant communities for the public good.
