A conversation with Stu Hunter

An interview with John Stuart Hunter is presented who had finished several courses at the North Carolina State University. He had worked for the American Cyanamid Company, at the Statistical Techniques Research Group at Princeton University, became a faculty in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and finally became an active consultant in his field of career. With so much success, he had received several many awards. The conversation with Hunter was about: his early years and how did he became a part of North Carolina State University; on how he was utilized at the Army; his involvement in statistics with the Statistical Techniques Group; his experience at the Institute of Statistics; his being founding editor of the Technometrics; on how he started working on Statistics for Experimenters; his experience as the president of the American Statistical Association (ASA); on the increasing need for certification of being statisticians; being a technical advisor at the United States Golf Association; his perspective on one of the statistical giant who is Ed Deming; and finally, his insights on the major opportunities for statisticians of today.
