An integrated optic gyroscope using ion-exchanged waveguides

Abstract

A compact, low cost, integrated noise optic gyroscope was fabricated by ion exchange in glass. The resulting gyroscope exhibits a shot noise limited rotational sensitivity of ∼170 degrees/hr at 1 second integration time.
