N2 - As the U.S. population is becoming more diverse, nursing students need enhanced clinical experiences to become proficient in patient-centered, culturally appropriate nursing care. The addition of cultural care simulation curriculum utilizing a live standardized patient aims to enhance student understanding of cultural care by applying care in a safe, controlled setting. Incorporating the curricular principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into simulation allows nursing students to apply their understanding of cultures and cultural behaviors in clinical environments. By using a standardized patient and simulation scenario of a patient with cultural needs, students are provided the opportunity to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate culturally appropriate care.
