Abstract

A linear bandwidth extension technique that can overcome envelope path bandwidth limitations in polar modulation transmitters is presented. Experimental results show that the proposed technique can suppress intermodulation distortion due to envelope path bandwidth limitations by 18dB up to 1GHz for modulation bandwidths up to 500kHz. This technique enables a low bandwidth supply regulator to be used with a high efficiency nonlinear RF power amplifier for wideband communication systems.
