Abstract
This study provided evidence for biomechanical interaction between the TCL and the thenar muscles under normal physiological conditions. As the pinch force increased, the TCL was pulled volarly by the thenar muscles, causing a decrease in CAW and increases in CAH and CAA. This study sheds light on the biomechanical stimulation of the TCL and its subsequent changes in morphological and mechanical properties, which may lead to the compression of the median nerve and eventually carpal tunnel syndrome.
