Critical building technology to save lives during earthquakes

Research output: Contribution to specialist publicationArticle

Abstract

Carbon fibre-based materials could prevent the collapse of thousands of buildings during a future major earthquake. Last November, a team of structural experts from industry and university in Turkey demonstrated in a side-by-side test how a building retrofitted with carbon fibre composites can successfully survive a simulated earthquake.
