Abstract

Aspects of retail shopping dynamics are investigated using Harris and Wilson's bifurcation framework. Discontinuous change in both the size and the spatial distribution of retail outlets under conditions of continuous change in system parameters is examined. Numerical simulation is used to examine variations in equilibrium conditions for an individual retail outlet under various behavioral and economic scenarios.
