Abstract

The crystallization behavior of slags has was investigated by direct observation and thermal analysis using the Double Hot Thermocouple Technique (DHTT) and Confocal Scanning Laser Microscopy (CSLM). In particular the crystallization behavior of calcium aluminate based slags was studied. The effects of undercooling, slag-chemistry and solid-oxide innoculants on slag solidification behavior will be documented and the implications of the results on industrial practice will be discussed.
