Abstract
Authors reevaluated the available data on the density of both the liquid- and solid-phases and to reduce them to a form suitable for our studies on the permeability for the flow of interdendritic liquid in partially melted alloys and for modeling macrosegregation phenomena in Al-Cu alloys. More generally, our results can be used to calculate the densities of the solid and liquid phases as functions of temperature and composition. To estimate the composition of the primary solid and hence its density, an assume that during dendritic freezing, the solute partitions according to the Scheil equation.
