Detection of fluorinated anesthetic metabolites by sodium fusion

Abstract

A method is reported which utilizes a sodium fusion reaction to decompose organofluorine compounds and yield ionic fluoride which may then be quantified with a specific ion electrode. The method is simple, quick, sensitive, and applicable to fluorinated anesthetic metabolites.
