Abstract
This chapter presents a model for online teaching and learning that can be used as a conceptual framework to identify strategies that would support educators to develop global digital citizens (GDCs). It begins with challenges facing educators and describes few international projects that were designed to meet diversity challenges. The chapter presents a model for GDC for educators that suggests some dimensions or levels of digital citizenship development. Communities of different social and cultural backgrounds within the European Union come together for friendship, cooperation, and to better understand each other through twinning projects. The Mediterranean Migration Network aims to promote collaboration and exchange of best practices between public and private organizations that are active in the fields of migration and integration. A competent digital learner should posses the knowledge of global digital citizenship. Constructivist learning environments support multiple perspectives and people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds who can construct knowledge from their various experiences and activities.
