Abstract
The development of the Agrobacterium Ti plasmid as a vector for plant genetic engineering was discussed. The 2002 Benjamin Franklin Medal in life sciences presented to Mary-Dell Chilton was also discussed. The technology for introducing new genes into crops plants was presented.
