Abstract

The existing engineering disciplinary structure, while still appropriate for many problems, is increasingly inadequate at the level of the integrated human/natural/built systems that characterize the Anthropocene. Accordingly, new approaches such as earth systems engineering and management are called for. Such approaches require augmentation of existing engineering education curricula and materials.
