Abstract
Hydrogen storage is the main bottleneck for establishing PEM fuel cell driven cars as the main source of automobiles in future. Metal doped ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) was investigated as hydrogen storing material in ambient temperature. OMC was synthesized using soft template route or self assembly followed by doping of four different metals, i.e., Pd, Pt, Ni, and Ru, in varying concentrations. The presence of metals in carbon matrix was observed. There was an increase in hydrogen uptake for all the metals and for all concentrations. Increase in metal content led to a decrease in hydrogen uptake for nickel contrary to other three metals which shows the opposite effect.
