title = "Evaluating the Ride Quality of Asphalt Concrete Pavements Delivered Using Design-Build",
abstract = "This paper studies the long-term performance impact of project delivery methods, specifically the effects of design-build (DB) on the ride quality of asphalt concrete pavement (ACP) highways. The international roughness index (IRI) is the prime metric used to compare long-term performance for pavement projects. The data were collected from three regions and a total of twelve projects with 227 mileposts were studied: one DB project and its comparable design-bid-build (DBB) project in each of Colorado and Virginia, and five DB projects with three comparable DBB projects in Washington. The results show that all DB projects have superior IRI performance when compared to DBB projects.",
