Abstract

This is a brief, qualitative, but critical discussion of the main achievements and current prospects in the application of microphysics to cosmological problems. I will divide the discussion into a description of the foundations, and the less secure or final working pictures. These are some speculations on the future of the subject. At the end there are some speculations on the ultimate future of the subject matter (scientific eschatology).
