Abstract

The problem of saturated-unsaturated seepage is solved by a Galerkin-type element method in conjunction with a fully implicit iterative scheme. This method appears to be computationally efficient in overcoming difficulties arising from the nonlinear nature of such problems, and, when used in conjunction with a fully explicit iterative scheme, extremely high rates of convergence can be achieved in many cases.
