Abstract
A dynamic arc model already developed for Equivalent Salt Deposit Density (ESDD) has been extended to include Non-Soluble Deposit Density (NSDD) in order to handle both the soluble and the non-soluble components of the contamination for prediction flashover voltage. The model is capable of handling AC- as well as DC-applied voltage for porcelain insulators. The model predictions were verified using public experimental data for several insulator shapes, and good correlation was established.
