This section introduction offers a concise overview of performing arts programs’ responsibilities to professional practices. This section, Responsibilities to the Fields, addresses myriad ways that higher education could both strengthen connections between academe and professional practices and blur the boundaries between these two realms through re-imagining standard practices and assumptions.
