Abstract
This section introduction outlines the key responsibilities that stem from performing arts programs’ commitments to the well-being of their communities and constituents. While the theme of social consciousness is present throughout the book, chapters in this section, Responsibilities to Society, examine how social justice, healing, and well-being can manifest through curricula, pedagogy, and programing. The section introduction also includes a brief synopsis of each chapter as well as reflective questions for readers to consider.
