Introduction: Inviting Critical Reflections on Methodology from Our Own Field

Abstract

In the Introduction to this edited collection, McGregor and Plews build the case for inviting critical reflections on methodology (e.g., paradigms and approaches, data and instruments, participants and contexts, and analysis of data) into study abroad research (SAR). Acknowledging the many ways that scholars conduct SAR, they introduce fifteen chapters that guide emerging and experienced scholars in SAR to go beyond what might seem familiar, common, or even popular in their own contexts and bring their own methodological questions, challenges, and concerns to bear on their projects.
