note = "Funding Information: The International BRI Symposia were initiated 30 years ago and are staged every 5 years through the work of a group of volunteers with interest in the field. Previous meetings were hosted in Turku, Finland (1975), Guildford, England (1980), College Park, Maryland (1985), Tucson, Arizona (1990), Munich, Germany (1995), Paris, France (2000), and Tucson, Arizona (2006). The current Barcelona meeting was co-sponsored by the Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center and the IMIM-Hospital del Mar. The organizers are grateful for the additional financial support provided by AstraZeneca (Stockholm), Eli Lilly and Co., the U.S. Society of Toxicology, TECNIO (Catalan Gouvernement), AdvanCell, Soft, Agilent Technologies, and Ventana Medical Systems Inc. An extensive International Advisory Committee was polled for recommendations on the program, which was finally put together by a Steering Committee composed of Dr. M.W. (Drag) Anders (Univ.
