Measurement of damage threshold for metallic gratings under intense laser pulse irradiation

Abstract

We have studied the damage characteristics of gold gratings irradiated with 40 fs laser pulses. The damage threshold for gold-on-glass gratings is twice that of holographic gratings and allows 10 Hz operation with PW pulses.
