Memoria histórica interrogativa y modernidad (Oído atento a los pájaros, de Luis Goytisolo) ^*

This article revisits Oído atento a los pájaros to explore the epistemology of the methods of interpretation and its limitations during a civil war and the memories associated with it. The analysis will examine the historical events created in the world of the novel and how the language used to explain the past produces uncertainties. Proposing the examination of the tensions between the affective and the political ideologies, I argue that Luis Goytisolo’s novel incites the reader to consider the memory of the war in an interrogative mode connected with ideas often related to the parameters of modernity.
