Abstract

Utilization of a miniaturized handheld stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) microscope versus a benchtop SRS microscope presents greater flexibility for in vivo chemical imaging and medical diagnosis in human subjects. This chapter reviews a state-of-the-art background-free fiber-delivered handheld SRS microscope, including its design principle, technical challenges, and biomedical applications. In the end, we outlook the pathways to improve the handheld SRS microscope for clinical applications.
