Abstract
LCOS projection displays can be made using several optical system architectures. We report on the lumen tradeoffs between several designs that utilize the scrolling color principle for single-panel LCOS applications. The rotating prism architecture is compared to a rotating spiral wheel architecture with polarization and color recirculation and to a rotating drum architecture.
