Overcoming Stone Age logic

Prominent corporate, government, academic, and environmental leaders gathered during September 2008 in Washington to consider some of the most serious challenges facing humanity in a summit convened by Arizona State University. The summit reached a broad agreement that Washington has abandoned its traditional environmental leadership role and that caefully considered federal efforts are essential to meet the societal needs within the limits of the environment. The summit also found that the approach to the complexity of challenges that confront us must be transformative rather than incremental, and shall demand major investment from concerned stakeholders. It was concluded that the progress will occur when new advances in the understanding converge with the evolving social, cultural, economic, and historical circumstances and practices to allow us to glimpse and pursue new opportunities.
