Abstract
The term "petty tyrant" conjures up a host of vivid images. We think of the school teacher who put punctuality and obedience above learning, the bank clerk that insisted we re-do a form because of an insignificant mistake, or the store manager who verbally assaulted a salesperson in front of customers. We think, in short, of an individual who lords his or her power over others.
