Abstract
The phonon excitation spectrum in a dilute boson-fermion gaseous mixture was calculated. The dynamical stability regime of a homogeneous mixture was determined. The change in sound velocity due to the boson-fermion interaction was investigated. A resonant phonon-exchange interaction between the fermions was found to be the physical mechanism resulting in the instability.
