Platelet-derived growth factor modulates synthesis of vascular endothelial growth factor in endothelial cells

Research output: Contribution to journal › Article › peer-review

Abstract

We investigated whether platelet-derivde growth factor (PDGF) known to promote neovascularization in vivo could modulate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in human umbilical endothelial cells. The results as followed, level of VEGF increased when cell under hypoxia condition. Various contents of PDGF doses-dependently induced VEGF synthesis under normal or hypoxia. These manifest PDGF promotes angiogensis by stimulating VEGF synthesis of endothelial cells.
