Religion in the workplace: Implications for financial fraud and organizational decision making

Many researchers have highlighted the potential positive benefits of increased religion in the workplace; however, few have addressed some of the potential negative consequences of the rise in religion in the workplace. This paper addresses this deficiency in the literature by exploring some of the potential organizational changes that can occur with the adoption of religion in the workplace. Specifically we explore how the adoption of religion in the workplace could lead to organizational changes that could increase the risk of financial fraud and could reduce the effectiveness of organizational decision making and teamwork. We also suggest avenues for future research into the relationship between religion in the work place, financial fraud, organizational decision making, and teamwork within organizations.
