Abstract

Within regions with similar exposure to climate hazards, the sensitivity of particular farm units to climate impacts will vary considerably, as will the capacity of agricultural producers to adapt in relation to a wide variety of socioeconomic, institutional and psychological variables (Easterling, 1996; Brklachich et al, 1997; Eakin, 2002). These variables are not always easily observed or measured at the household level, posing considerable challenges to assessing the vulnerability of specific farm populations.
