Abstract

Solar energy development is poised to take off, but are we educating the next generation of leaders who can understand the technical, policy, financial, environmental, etc. issues surrounding solar energyArizona State University has created a new degree program, called the Professional Science Master's in Solar Energy Engineering & Commercialization, which provides a comprehensive, fast-paced program for STEM (STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) students to engage in all aspects of solar energy. Lessons learned in developing this degree program, the experiences of our first graduating class, and plans for the future are presented to promote inter-university collaboration in solar and other renewable energies.
