Abstract
In studies by scanning electron microscopy and wide-angle X-ray scattering on Kevlar 149 fibres, the high modulus is attributed to an increased crystallite orientation associated with a straightening of the 'pleated sheet structure' and the increased crystallite size in the Kevlar 149.
