Abstract
The Global Engineering Design Team (GEDT), a transatlantic team-based design for undergraduates at the Arizona State University and the University of Leeds, is discussed. The goal is to create a single team of students on a company-sponsored design project that required continual global teamwork, thinking and communication and would prepare the students for design in a global environment. The faculties at the two universities have become better acquainted both with each other and with the sometimes-diverse cultural issues that help global understanding. The benefits of GEDT to students, staff and school are also discussed.
