Abstract

This paper investigates the influence of servitization on manufacturers' levels of innovation. Services in a manufacturing firm act as a window to the market facilitating knowledge transfer and innovation. We analyze a panel of U.S. manufacturers and find a positive association between service sales and subsequent patent activity.
