Abstract

Originally, this theme issue of IEEE Potentials was prospectively titled The Dark Side of Technology. We wanted to address some of the dangerous scenarios that arise from the development of new technologies without proper constraint, restraint, ethical judgment, or regard for people and the planet. Certainly, there was no shortage of case studies or scenarios from which to choose.
