Abstract
In this chapter, women of color assistant professors in sociology, Susila Gurusami, Diya Bose, and Rocío R. García, address why and how they draw on Black feminist sociological writing as inspiration for research. In the discussion of the scholarship of Patricia Hill Collins and Dorothy E. Roberts, for example, the authors explore how Black feminist sociology has powerfully expanded understandings of reproductive politics through analyses of how colonialism (re)produces violence in tandem with systems of oppression, like racism, transphobia, and sexism. The authors further explore the idea of accountability by drawing on Mariame Kaba's provocation, which animates the title of this chapter, to discuss how they engage with Black feminist sociology in their research as non-Black scholars.
