Abstract
The squareness of A is the historical reason for the rectangular Y being described as a Youden square, not a Youden rectangle. 65.4 Remark If the entry in each nonempty cell of A is replaced by the entry 1, and the entry 0 is put into each empty cell of A, then A becomes the incidence matrix of the symmetric design on which Y is based.
